Models Give Back: Habitat For Humanity

There are so many reasons why Vision loves the models who participate in the Vision Model Program; we have the opportunity to work with some of the most talented, intelligent and beautiful teens in Colorado. Sometimes as a teenager you don’t get enough recognition, which is why Vision waned to take a special moment to acknowledge the Models who volunteered with Habitat For Humanity this past Saturday. It is not everyday that you will find high school students with such big hearts, who are willing to take a day out of their busy weekends to help a family build a home. Models from Heritage High School and Rock Canyon High School organized their own groups of teen volunteers and set out to work on two separate projects in Aurora, CO. Volunteering can sometimes seem like a small commitment, but one day is pivotal in helping change the life of a local family, and it can be REALLY fun…but we already knew that!

Teens Helping Teens

Thank you so much for all of the Vision Models who came to the Wild Wild West Model Event and brought canned goods!

Our Food Roundup will be donated to Gemini Family Tree’s Holidays of Hope. Family Tree helps children and adolescents who have been abused in various ways and are no longer able to live in their homes. Many of the individuals and families are at risk of losing their homes or are already homeless. Thanks to our Vision Models, Vision will donate canned goods to provide a dinner to many displaced children and youth this Thanksgiving Holiday.

Vision Gives Back: Habitat for Humanity

The Vision Family recently teamed up with Habitat for Humanity, working on two different homes in the Metro Denver area for families in need. As cliche as it may sound, we often take for granted things we have in our lives that many cannot afford or do not have. As a photography studio, we spend a majority of our time helping families capture memories they can proudly display on the walls of their home. Nearly 2 billion people worldwide are homeless and have no hope of ever being able to afford a house; many will never have hallways they can claim as their own, where they too can hang beautiful portraits on their walls. Taking this into consideration, Vision felt the need to step out into the community and volunteer our time to help two families make the dream of affordable housing a reality.

Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to provide low-income affordable housing to individuals and families in need. It is important to understand that the organization does not simply build and handout houses, but works in conjunction with the family receiving the home to set up an affordable no-profit and no-interest mortgage. The family is required to make a down payment and work 250 hours alongside volunteers and trained supervisors in building their simple, energy-efficient and sustainable home- families also complete 50 hours of classes on how to be responsible home owners. The material and labor needed to build the houses are all donated by various organizations, businesses and individuals.

We had a great time with Jessica Simpson and all the kids attending the International Student Leadership Conference at the University of Denver this summer. Student Volunteers go on mission trips around the world with Operation Smile to help children everywhere.

Operation Smile: Ethiopia Story

We are so proud to be an Operation Smile Studio. As photographers we cannot think of a better gift than to help a child smile. So far we have been able to donate over 50 surgeries to children in need. Thank you to all of our amazing clients for helping us to make a difference in these children’s lives!

Last year, as part of being an Operation Smile Studio, I was fortunate enough to travel to Vietnam to photograph and document the stories of beautiful little children just like Thu. It was an incredible privilege to be able to witness the talents of these international medical teams and witness these life changing surgeries for myself. Vision has supported Operation Smile since 2005 and is proud to partner with this amazing organization to help childen born with these facial deformities. This was truly a life changing time in my life. Thanks for being a part of the Vision family and helping us help these children!
